As of version 3.5.0 of the Block 64 Discovery Application, Windows 7 SP1 is now the minimum OS requirement for installation. However, there are some prerequisites and details that are worth noting. See below for more details.

Operating System

Minimum: Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Recommended: Windows 10 release 1607 or newer or Windows Server 2016 or newer

CPU

Minimum: 4 CPU cores

Recommended: 4 CPU cores or more

Memory

Minimum: 8GB of available memory

Recommended: 8GB of available memory or more

Note: on virtual machine deployments, dynamically allocated memory may not appear to the VM as expected. To ensure the full complement of allocated RAM is available to the VM, disable dynamic memory.

Software Prerequisites

NPCAP

NPCAP, required for network discovery, is included by the application installer. You may see a notification for the NPCAP driver installation as below. You can safely click on Install.

More details about NPCAP can be found here: https://nmap.org/npcap/

Windows Updates

If you are deploying the application on an operating system older than the recommended (see above), the updates below may not already be installed.

These updates are included during install, but it is recommended to install these prior to deployment in order to appropriately control necessary reboots.

If you are prompted to reboot, it is highly recommended to follow that prompt to ensure a smooth install of the discovery application.
