Security : EndPoint : Estimated Annual Cost

How we calculate the Estimated Annual Cost Insight and why might it be empty

The Estimated Annual Cost Insight provides visibility into the total cost of endpoint security software deployed across your environment. It gives IT and security leaders a clear view of how much is being spent annually to protect endpoints and manage identity, helping inform budget decisions and identify areas for optimization.

How do we calculate this Insight?

This Insight is based on installed software data collected using:

  • Block 64 Discovery Application

  • Block 64 Discovery Appliance

  • Jamf Pro Integration (for macOS devices)

It summarizes:

  • The annualized cost of endpoint security products installed in your environment.

  • A category-level view of where spend is allocated (e.g., Endpoint Security, Anti-Virus, Identity Management).

  • Both in-use and recoverable costs, allowing you to distinguish between licenses in use and those that may be reclaimable.

This provides a single, consolidated view of your organization’s annual spend on endpoint security solutions.

Why might this Insight be empty or missing data?

This Insight may appear empty or incomplete if:

  • The Discovery Application or Appliance has not been fully deployed or is still ingesting data from your environment.

  • Endpoints are not reporting correctly or scans have not yet completed.

  • If using Jamf Pro, the integration has not been fully configured or the required API permissions are missing.

Troubleshooting Checklist:

  • Verify that a discovery tool (Application, Appliance, or Jamf Pro) is installed and actively reporting.

  • Allow time for initial ingestion to complete, especially in larger environments.

  • If using Jamf Pro, ensure the integration is connected and the API role has the necessary read privileges.

  • Check that endpoints are online and reachable during scans.
