ITAM : SaaS : Estimated Cost by Publisher
How we calculate the Estimated Cost by Publisher Insight and why might it be empty
The Estimated Cost by Publisher Insight provides visibility into your organization’s annual SaaS spend, grouped by publisher (e.g., Microsoft, Google, Slack, Atlassian). It helps you quickly identify which vendors account for the largest portion of your SaaS budget, and highlights potential cost savings opportunities.
How do we calculate this Insight?
This Insight is based on subscription and license information retrieved from your connected SaaS integrations:
-
Microsoft 365
-
Google Workspace
-
Slack
-
Atlassian
It displays:
-
In-Use Cost – the portion of your SaaS spend associated with active licenses.
-
Recoverable Cost – spend that may be reclaimed from unused or underused licenses.
The results are rolled up by publisher so you can clearly see the distribution of costs across different vendors.
Why might this Insight be empty or missing data?
This Insight may appear empty or incomplete if:
-
The required SaaS integrations have not been connected.
-
The credentials used for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Slack do not have sufficient permissions to retrieve license information.
-
For Atlassian, the API key was not created with the necessary scopes (this integration is customer-managed).
Troubleshooting Checklist:
Confirm that the SaaS integrations (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian) are connected.
Verify that the accounts or API keys used have the correct permissions to retrieve subscription and licensing details.
If using Atlassian, double-check that the API key includes the proper scopes.
Re-authenticate the integration if tokens have expired.
