Cloud : Public : Total Database Cost
How we calculate the Total Public Cloud Database Cost Insight and why might it be empty
The Total Database Cost Insight shows the monthly spend associated with database services running in your public cloud environments. It helps you track costs across providers such as AWS and Azure, making it easier to monitor usage trends and identify opportunities to optimize spend.
How do we calculate this Insight?
This Insight is based on billing and usage data collected from:
-
AWS Integration (via Role ARN)
-
Azure Integration (via Azure environment privileges)
It provides:
-
Total database cost for the last 30 days.
-
A breakdown of spend by provider (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
-
Cost changes compared to the previous month, helping you spot increases or decreases in usage.
Why might this Insight be empty or missing data?
This Insight may appear empty or incomplete if:
-
No AWS or Azure integrations have been configured.
-
The AWS integration Role ARN is incorrectly configured or missing required permissions.
-
The Azure integration account does not have sufficient privileges to retrieve billing and usage data.
-
Data ingestion is still in progress for newly added accounts or subscriptions.
Troubleshooting Checklist:
Confirm that AWS and/or Azure integrations are connected.
For AWS, verify the Role ARN is correctly configured and has permissions to access billing data.
For Azure, ensure the integration account has appropriate privileges for subscription and cost data.
Allow time for data ingestion after connecting a new cloud account.
