How we calculate the Public Cloud Database Overview Insight and why might it be empty
The Database Overview Insight provides a consolidated view of your organization’s database services running in public cloud environments. It helps you track usage, costs, and distribution across providers like AWS and Azure, giving you a high-level understanding of your database footprint in the cloud.
How do we calculate this Insight?
This Insight is powered by:
-
AWS Integration (via Role ARN)
-
Azure Integration (via Azure environment privileges)
It displays:
-
Active database services across providers (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
-
Associated usage and costs for the current and previous periods.
-
A high-level view of provider-specific spend, helping you compare database usage across AWS and Azure.
The purpose of this Insight is to provide at-a-glance visibility into database services, supporting cost monitoring and cloud optimization efforts.
Why might this Insight be empty or missing data?
This Insight may appear empty or incomplete if:
-
No AWS or Azure integrations have been set up.
-
The AWS Role ARN is missing, misconfigured, or lacks required permissions.
-
The Azure integration account does not have sufficient privileges to retrieve cost and usage data.
-
Data ingestion is still in progress for newly added subscriptions or accounts.
Troubleshooting Checklist:
Confirm AWS and/or Azure integrations are connected.
For AWS, ensure the Role ARN is configured correctly and has the right billing/usage permissions.
For Azure, verify the integration account has the correct access rights for subscription and cost data.
Allow time for ingestion after first connecting or updating integrations.
