Adding the Slack Integration and Its Associated Insights

Overview

The Slack connection in Block 64 enables secure, read-only access to workspace and user data across your organization's Slack environment. Slack is a messaging platform that facilitates real-time communication and collaboration across teams. This integration supports enhanced visibility into team structure, communication patterns, and workspace governance.

Once connected, the data collected from this integration appears in the following Block 64 Insights reports:

Reports → IT Asset Management → SaaS

The credentials needed for this Integration

To set up this integration, you'll need:

  • A Slack account with administrative access to your organization's Slack workspace.
  • The ability to grant delegated permissions to Block 64 on behalf of your organization.
  • An admin email address with the appropriate permissions to access the desired data.

How to add this Integration

  1. In the Block 64 Insights portal, navigate to Integrations → Slack.
  2. Enter the Admin Email address associated with your Slack Admin account.
  3. Ensure the Integration Connection toggle is set to Enabled
  4. Click Connect

      Security & Privacy

All access is read-only. Block 64 cannot modify, delete, or create any data in your Slack environment. Only metadata relating to users, channels, roles, and administrative activity is collected, message content is not read or stored. Data is handled in compliance with Block 64's Privacy Policy and Slack's Terms of Service.

      Why is this Integration failing?

If the integration isn't working, it's usually because the admin email entered does not have the required Slack administrative permissions, or because the delegated access has since been revoked. To resolve:

      • Confirm the email address entered belongs to an active Slack admin account with the appropriate permissions.
      • Reconnect the integration and ensure all requested permissions are granted during the authorization flow.
      • Verify that the Integration Connection toggle is set to Enabled in the Block 64 Insights portal.

       How to remove this Integration

      From Block 64:

You can disable this integration temporarily by clicking on the Enable switch in the integration.

Alternatively, you can disconnect the integration entirely by clicking on the Disconnect button.

      From Slack:

      1. Sign in to your Slack admin account.

      2. Navigate to Settings & Administration → Manage Apps.

      3. Locate the Block 64 connection and remove it to fully revoke access.
